    Passport collection Process

In order to ensure the safe and secure return of passports to applicants, a new system is implemented in the collection or return of passports from the VFS Centre in Kolkata, with effect from 1 October 2016.

From that date, passports will either be collected: in person, by a third party or sent back by a courier service (with the payment of 300 INR).

    • Passports can be collected from the Kolkata VFS Centre by the applicants in person, Monday to Friday, except holidays, between 15:00 and 17:00.
    • Passports can also be collected from the Kolkata VFS Centre by a third party, only in the following cases:
      • An immediate family member (spouse, parents, children or siblings)
      • A person collecting on behalf of Government officials
      • A representative of the company of the applicant

In all the three above cases, the representative who comes for passport collection must produce an original of:

    • the letter of authorization of the applicant or the relevant Government Department or the Company
    • the Invoice Counter Receipt (ICR) delivered by VFS and, if applicable, a photocopy of his government or Company ID card.

In all other cases, passports will be returned by courier service. A fee of 300 INR per passport has to be paid, at the time of the submission of the file, by the applicant.

He will fill in the form (click here) stipulating the name and address to which his passport should be returned (Travel Agent, at home, or third party).
